How It Works

Day Trips On Village Creek

Canoers get ready for their trip
CHECK-IN

All paddlers registering for a day trip on Village Creek must first check-in at Eastex Canoes Headquarters.

Eastex Canoes rental office is located at the corner of Business Hwy 96 and Turtle Creek Road – just South of the City Limits of Silsbee, Texas .  While registering for your outing, you can choose your canoe trail, get a good map of Village Creek and take advantage of the last civilized restroom you will see all day!

Registration begins at 8:00 am each morning at Headquarters.  Our staff continues to check-in families and groups for day trips until about 2:00 pm depending on availability and seasonal conditions.

Overnight campers must check-in at Headquarters between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm the first day of their trip.

Once you have registered, you may wish to rent a Seat Back Rest or a “Tush-cushion” for your rented canoe.  Headquarters also sells laminated maps, waterproof pouches, beach boxes and ponchos…. Great for rainy days on the creek!

Cheap Styrofoam coolers are not permitted in our rental boats.  Styrofoam is non-biodegradable and an environmental hazard.  Please consolidate your cooler space or rent a cooler for the day at Eastex Canoes Headquarters.

Bags of ice, bottled water, Koozies and “Can-Panions” are available for purchase at Headquarters after registering for your trip.  Water-Blasters, Aqua-Shoes, hats, caps, T-shirts and Floating Eyeglass Lanyards are also available for purchase at Headquarters.

Parking

After you have registered for your trip, you will receive directions to the Take-out access where your chosen canoe trail ends.    Park safely off the road and unload all personal gear you are taking for the day.  Lock your vehicle and put your keys in a safe place.

Canoe-Campers renting from Eastex Canoes may park their vehicles overnight free of charge at Eastex Canoes Headquarters and we will shuttle you upstream to the Put-in from here.  Paddlers with their own equipment using our shuttle service may also park overnight at Headquarters for $5 per vehicle per night.

Shuttle Service - Day Trips

After you Park, look for one of our EASTEX shuttle vans, show your TICKET to the driver and he will take you & your party upstream to the Put - in.  Our Drivers are Outfitters with many years of Experience and can answer any last minute questions about your canoe trail.   Upon arriving at the Put - in, your Canoes & Equipment will be issued to you at the shoreline.  Begin your Canoe Trip at your leisure.   If you are a beginner and need some assistance or instruction, our outfitters will be happy to take the time to show you a few essentials to make your trip more safe and enjoyable.

Eastex Canoes is “Dog-Friendly to Friendly Dogs.”   As long as your dog is dry and well-behaved, it will be allowed to ride upstream in the shuttle van.  Please control your pet on the creek and be considerate of others at all times.
